OSAKA (August 25-26) – Yamanashi Gakuin University heavyweight Katsutoshi Kanazawa added the 120kg greco-roman crown to his freestyle triumph and was named the outstanding wrestler of the national collegiate open wrestling championships.
Kanazawa defeated YGU teammate Takuya Haraguchi by technical superiority 2-0, (6-0, 6-0) in the 120kg greco-roman final at Sakai municipal Kanaoka Park Gymnasium near Osaka.
Meanwhile, Ko Osaka of Waseda University repeated as greco-roman champion at 96kg after missing out on chance to repeat as champion in the freestyle champion two days earlier.
Nippon Sports Sciences University advanced six wrestlers to the finals in five weight classes, but could only win at the three lightest categories. NSSU was unable to match last year's performance in which the school won five individual titles.
