CHONBURI, Thailand (May 11) – Cadet world bronze medalist Takuto OTOGURO (JPN) won handily three bouts at 50kg and Daiki ARAKI (JPN) notched three wins against a loss at 46kg to give Japan gold and bronze medals on the final day of the Asian cadet championships.
Otoguro became Japan’s third gold medalist in boys’ freestyle events this tournament after winning performances by Yajuro YAMASAKI (JPN) and Takashi ISHIGURO (JPN) at 76kg and 85kg, respectively.
Araki, meanwhile, posted a win over 2013 champion at 42kg, KIM Kum-Hyok (PRK), in the 46kg quarterfinals on his way to the bronze medal, giving the boys’ freestyle squad six medals for the championships.
The total of six medals won by Japan was one better than 2007 when the Japanese boys brought home one gold medal and four bronze.
