MAIZURU, Kyoto (April 5) – Two-time cadet world champion Miho IGARASHI defeated three-time cadet winner Kika KAGATA, 6-0, in the 48kg final to win her first Japan Junior Queens Cup crown.
Igarashi, who won her second cadet world title at 46kg last summer in Snina (SVK), was also named the outstanding wrestler across all divisions in the tourney. Igarashi’s younger sister, Saki, also won the 49kg title in the cadet division.
Nanami IRIE, meanwhile, stopped Youth Olympic Games gold medalist Mayu MUKAIDA, 5-1, in the 55kg final to win her second junior division title and was named the most valuable wrestler in the junior division.
Rino ABE, the junior world champ in 2013, rolled to her third straight triumph at 72kg, while 2014 junior world champion Masako FURUICHI grabbed her second title in a row.
