ULAAN BATAAR (March 1-2) – Defending champion Hiroe SUZUKI made it two in a row and Yuki IKEGAME won her first women’s freestyle title at the Mongolian Open wrestling tournament.
Suzuki repeated her 2013 championship run with a 4-0 decision over world bronze medalist OCHIRBAT Burmaa (MGL) for the 75kg crown while Ikegame claimed the 53kg crown with wins over world silver medalist SUMIYA Eredennechimeg (MGL) and junior world bronze medalist ALTANTSETSEG Battsetseg (MGL).
Meanwhile, in men’s freestyle, 2010 world bronze medalist Yasuhiro INABA grabbed a second place at 57kg and 2010 junior world runner-up Kotaro TANAKA earned a third place at 65kg.
Inaba posted three wins, but fell, 0-2, to Viktor RASSADIN (RUS) in the 57kg final, while Tanaka went 1-1 against Mongolian opponents for third place.
