BAKU (July 25) – Japan’s four freestyle entries on the opening day of the Golden Grand Prix Final all fell in the first matches and did not qualify for the consolation bracket and a chance for a bronze medal.
Shingo ARIMOTO of Kinki University was the only member of the west Japan university select squad to score points in his loss, but still came up short against German Grand Prix runner-up Mykola BOLOTNYUK (SVK), 4-6.
