BAKU (July 27) – Asian championships silver medalist Shinobu OTA notched a pair of wins at 59kg in the greco-roman events at the Golden Grand Prix Final, but also lost twice to finish a team-high seventh place for Japan.
Ota scored a fall of last year’s GGP Final runner-up Orkhan AHMEDOV (AZE) in the consolation bracket but missed out on a berth in the bronze medal finals with a 4-6 loss to European champion Aleksander KOSTADINOV (BUL).
Japan’s six other entries in greco-roman were unable to post a win in eight bouts.
